For the Canada Day long weekend and week, we decided to enjoy a week long adventure at Arrohead Provincial Park.

It rained on Saturday, but we didn’t mind; we are waterproof.

Our son joined us for the weekend. The best place for cell phone reception was down by the lake.

Cell phone reception

It rained on Sunday as well for part of the day.

Later on after the rain stopped, we went up to see Big Bend Lookout.

Of course, the view was as beautiful as ever.

That was a very short trail, so we had plenty of time to visit Stubb’s Falls.

Well worth the trek.

On the hike out, we saw some interesting trees that somehow grew over old, dead stumps of trees.

There was plenty of mud on the trail. Also some interesting tiny flowers. Not sure what they were, as they were not in full bloom yet.

The next day was Canada Day, and the weather was glorious, so we decided to take our canoe out on to Arrowhead lake for a lap. I walked it down from our campsite.

Portaging

The surface of the lake was like glass. It was beautiful.

On the water

After lunch, we spent the afternoon on the beach. The water was cold, but it was a hot day, so it balanced out nicely.

In the water

The water had a brown-yellow hue to it, but otherwise it was very clean and refreshing.

Swimming

Happy Canada day 2024.

On the beach

After that, my parents joined us. We listed to The Moose on the radio and watched the sun set.

They had a place to lock up our canoe, so we left our canoe by the lake so we could continue to enjoy it through the week without carrying it down to the water every day.

The canoe storage

We spent the rest of the week playing in and on the water,

and hiking the trails.
